Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach Poyatos: "To sum up today's game, I think it was neither good nor bad. In the first half, we were unable to control the game for about 15 to 20 minutes. Of course, even though we were unable to control the game, we didn't create many dangerous scenes, but we continued to find ourselves in a situation where we couldn't proceed as we wanted. In the second half, we replaced (Sasaki) Shogo and (Mitsuda) Makoto, and I think these two really helped the team. In the first half, we had a hard time controlling the play, but by substituting these two players, we were able to control it, and from there we were able to increase the number of chances and finally score. After that, I think we were able to maintain a good posture and behave well on defense and defend well. As you all know, we really needed this win with some players out, so I'm glad we were able to get it."
Q: "The first half was a tough one, so what was the most important thing you emphasized at halftime? Also, Mitsuda has only just joined the team, so was it planned to bring him on at the start of the second half? Also, please let us know your evaluation of him."
Head Coach Poyatos: "Well, to answer them in order, we made some adjustments at halftime, including the positioning of the defensive midfielders and the distance between the two defensive midfielders. As for the next question, whether the introduction of Mitsuda went according to plan, I had the impression that we were not making much progress after breaking away from the opponent's pressing, so I knew that by bringing in (Mitsuda) Makoto, we could avoid the press and take the team further forward, so I wanted to bring that out, and he himself can receive the ball between the lines, turn, and carry it, so I wanted to use that ability. As for the evaluation, as I said in the previous roundtable (interview), I knew that he really had the ability, and I thought that the fact that he was able to do this much in such a short training period would fit him in right away, and I think he has the ability to adapt to this style right away."
Q: "Since the Okayama match, I think the players' fighting spirit and the speed of switching between offense and defense have improved. What is your impression of this, Head Coach Poyatos?"
Head Coach Poyatos: "Yes, every game is different, and that's the way I think about it. As you just said, the Okayama match was a bad game, and I have no choice but to accept that. The Okayama match was bad, so what could we have learned from it? I have said that we made mistakes and we need to learn from them, and I think that's what I think too. In the previous Okayama match, we were lacking in duels, in close-quarters play, and in our fighting spirit. So, having learned from that, I think we were able to demonstrate that today. Please don't misunderstand, it's not that we had forgotten about that in the Okayama match, but we just weren't able to do it. We learned from that mistake and I think we were able to express ourselves well today."
Q: "Without key offensive and defensive players like Usami and Nakatani, was this victory a big deal for the team?"
Head Coach Poyatos: "I think there would be no end to the names if I kept listing them, but I think this win was really big considering the absence of players like WELTON."
