Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach Poyatos: "Yes, I think the game unfolded as expected, and I had the impression that Yokohama FC defended well throughout the game. We lacked the intention to move the ball around a little, and I think it would have been better if we had had that intention. Especially in the first half. In the second half, we were able to be conscious of that and create chances, but today we were unable to maintain our accuracy throughout the game, and I think that's why we weren't able to score the opening goal. As a result, just as I thought it would unfold towards the end, we were pushed back. I think it was a good thing that we managed to finish the game without conceding a goal, but I'm not satisfied with the result, which ended in a draw."
Q: "You probably expected the game to play out this way, but we were hit with a number of unpleasant counterattacks. What do you think was the reason for this, Head Coach Poyatos?"
Head Coach Poyatos: "It's very difficult to do everything perfectly for 90 minutes, and when you look at Yokohama FC's front line, some of them have power, some have speed, and some have quality. So, in terms of today, we wanted to focus on risk management, and our two interior players played close to Neta (Ravi) so as not to create too much distance between them, and we were conscious of going to get the ball back as soon as we lost it. In the midst of that, not only did we lack accuracy and not score, but we also made a passing mistake, and I think that passing mistake led to a counter attack, so I think it's difficult to do that for the entire 90 minutes, but that was our aim."
Q: "At the end, there was a little bit of time before you brought in Kyung-won. Was that because you thought it was ok to bring in Kyung-won and play with three defenders and have the score be 0-0, or was there some hesitation that led to a little bit of time being taken?"
Head Coach Poyatos: "Yes, it's really difficult to make a decision in that kind of situation when you're excited yourself, and I also wanted to stay as calm as possible and not lose the balance, so it took me a while to make a firm decision. In the end, I understood that Yokohama FC's aerial battles and set pieces were a threat, so I think there were scenes where we were able to bounce back by bringing in Diego (Kyung-won) tactically. That was my aim."
Q: When Usami was brought on, instead of DAWHAN, who had just been injured, Ravi was substituted and Yuki YAMAMOTO was substituted as the anchor. What was your thinking behind that situation?
Head Coach Poyatos: "We simply wanted to win the game, and when I put (Usami) Takashi in up front, I wanted him to play freely. I think there was one scene where Alano went in from the left wing and Takashi took a shot, and that was the intention of letting him play freely between the lines. By putting Takashi in, we were aiming to get balance between Yuki YAMAMOTO and DAWHAN, especially in terms of switching, but then DAWHAN got injured, so that plan to win fell apart a little."
