Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach Poyatos: "I think it was a very difficult and close game. In the first half, we gave away a penalty kick to (Sato) Yodai, which the other team managed to score. In the second half, we created some scoring opportunities, and even had a decisive penalty kick, but Gamba missed it. I think those efforts had a big impact. However, we fought until the end, aiming for goal opportunities, but in the end we lost. And we didn't get any points today. I'm very sad and frustrated."
Q: "Did the team decide who would take the penalty kick?"
"The players scored," said Head Coach Poyatos.
Q: "Honestly, from the outside, I think there's not much the Head Coach can do, especially with the penalty kicks and the decisive chances in the second half. How do you feel about that, Head Coach Poyatos?"
Head Coach Poyatos: "I think that each individual has good and bad moments, but if we can't score in decisive moments like that, it will be very difficult. I think we need to improve our attitude towards the goal at the end, the final pass, and concentration, including precision without rushing. I give my comments to the players every day during practice, but I don't know if they feel pressured and can't perform like that. I want to continue to do my best, including those things."
Q: "Kyoto's pressing started well in the first half and it looked like the team struggled, but it looked like anchor player DAWHAN and Yuki YAMAMOTO switched positions midway through the first half. Was that an instruction from Head Coach Poyatos, and what was the aim?"
Head Coach Poyatos: "I gave that instruction. When I was watching the opponent's pressing situation, I saw that the inside half was coming out, so I put Yuki (Yamamoto) as the anchor because he is a player who can control the ball well, and I placed him in the anchor position, expecting him to use his creativity and technique to pull out the ball well near the center back."
