Pre-match comments for the Kochi match (Head Coach Poyatos, MITO, and Alano)
Head Coach DANIEL POYATOS : "The Levain Cup is a historic tournament, and as GAMBA OSAKA we have to go all out to win, so we will do our best and reach the final. Of course, we know it will be difficult because we will be playing against great teams and there will be surprises in the results, but we will fight hard. We played against Kochi in the 2nd Leg of the EMPEROR'S CUP three years ago, and I still haven't forgotten how I felt when we lost. I think that day was the saddest and toughest day I've ever had. That's why we are all working with high motivation so that we don't repeat that. I think that in football, the key to victory or defeat will definitely come down to whether we can score or not, but we will do our best to get into a good flow."
MF27 Rin MITO "In the match against Yokohama F.M., we were able to play with a good rhythm but were unable to score a goal, which brought up an issue. However, in the match against Kochi, we are expected to win, so we will work on that aspect as a team. I think that the opponent is characterized by fast attacks, so I think that second balls will be the key, and since they are likely to bring momentum at home, we can't afford to rest on our laurels, so we will go all out. In the match, it doesn't really matter if the opponent is a J3 team or something like that, and since Gamba suffered a painful defeat in the Levain Cup last year, I want to go into the match as a challenger. I think we will have a lot of possession of the ball, but we will play well together and fight with the attitude of always scoring goals, so we will surpass the opponent's momentum and overpower them to win."
MF47 JUAN ALANO "Like the J.League, the Levain Cup is an important tournament for us. Since last year, the format has changed to a knockout format, and unfortunately we ended up with that result (losing in the 2nd Leg of the first match), so this year we want to win and move on to the next one. We have played against Kochi before in the EMPEROR'S CUP and lost, and we know that they play tough defense, so instead of thinking, "We're GAMBA OSAKA, so we'll be fine," we need to imagine that we're playing a very difficult match and prepare properly. Last year, I wanted to be a help to the team, but I ended up with a lot of injuries and couldn't have the season I had hoped for, so this year I want to play in a way that will contribute to the team's victory, including scoring goals."
