Pre-match comments for the Yokohama F. Marinos match (Head Coach Poyatos, Fukuoka, Kurokawa)
Head Coach DANIEL POYATOS : "The team is on a two-game winning streak, but what's clear and important now is that we have to play well in each and every game. At the same time, I want to focus only on how many points we can accumulate, without thinking about who is higher or lower or the ranking. I want to fight well and create a team that makes opponents think, 'It's hard to beat Gamba, it's hard to damage them.' I think the team has changed with the addition of new players, so I want to improve this team little by little with each game. I'm glad that the players who were given a chance performed well and that the players who were absent returned, and I want to include players who can face Yokohama FM well and win in the team for this match against Yokohama FM."
DF2 Shota FUKUOKA "Speaking of the match against Yokohama F. Marinos, there was a dramatic comeback victory in last year's EMPEROR'S CUP semi-final, but I think Yokohama F. Marinos is a team that will bring back the disappointment they experienced there, so I think we have to take action against them. This season, Yokohama F. Marinos has young players and new players in the midfield, so there are still some unknowns, but as Gamba, what we do remains the same, so we will keep possession of the ball and tire out the opponent, then finish them off. Our opponent is currently in the lower ranks, but we don't know how things will go from here, so I think it's important for us as a team to stay on our guard and fight hard in the game in front of us, regardless of who the opponent is. There is a lot of competition within the team, but I want to take it as a good stimulus and create a situation where anyone can play."
DF4 Keisuke KUROKAWA "It's a match that will determine our third consecutive win, but we have some injured players returning, so I hope we can get into a flow where we can fight well while also competing with each other within the team. Yokohama F. Marinos has a new Head Coach and is trying out different formations, such as whether to have four or three (in the back line), but they have talented players, so I think the key will be not letting them play freely. As for Gamba, I think we are currently playing the kind of football we want to play, so I want to go for it. I think our opponents will come in with the same feelings as when they lost in the EMPEROR'S CUP semi-finals last year, and we haven't won away (at Nissan Stadium) for about two years, so I want to hit them well and make this a match where we can go up again."
